8Corfu’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

One of the island’s most remarkable features is its Old Town, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The town’s maze of narrow alleyways, grand Venetian mansions, and imposing fortresses reflect the island’s multicultural past. The two main fortresses, the Old Fortress and the New Fortress, were built by the Venetians to protect the island from Ottoman invasions.
