3Achilleion Palace Was Built for an Empress

One of Corfu’s most famous landmarks, Achilleion Palace, was built in 1890 for Empress Elisabeth of Austria, also known as Sisi.

The empress fell in love with Corfu’s beauty and commissioned the palace as a retreat dedicated to her favorite hero, Achilles. Today, visitors can explore the palace’s lavish interiors and beautifully landscaped gardens with stunning sea views.
