Marseille’s ranking is perhaps less surprising. With a Crime Index around 65.3 (or 66.0, depending on the source), the city has long grappled with drug trafficking, gang violence, and turf wars.

Certain districts (especially in the northern parts) are particularly notorious, and tourists are often warned to stay in safer, more tourist-friendly zones.
