10Emporio, Santorini (Cyclades)

While most tourists flock to Oia or Fira, few venture to Emporio, the largest village in Santorini. Emporio stands out for its medieval character and charmingly colorful alleyways.

The houses here aren’t just whitewashed—many are painted in earthy pastels like ochre, terracotta, and soft blue. Its maze-like Kastelli (castle) district is dotted with vibrant doors and windows, adorned with blooming bougainvillea and cheerful street art that adds a modern twist to the village’s ancient past.
