Unlike its neoclassical counterpart Ermoupoli, Ano Syros is a medieval village brimming with character.

Climbing the hills behind the port, visitors are greeted with a pastel panorama of pink, salmon, mint, and lavender homes stacked on the hillside. Add to that vivid blue shutters and colorful religious frescoes, and you have a village bursting with charm and Cycladic spirit—with far fewer crowds.
