6Lafkos, Pelion Peninsula (Thessaly)

Lafkos is a little-known treasure in the lush Pelion region, which itself is known as the “land of the Centaurs.”

The village’s colorful homes, adorned with wooden shutters in forest green and sky blue, are framed by flowering gardens and forested hills. The central square is a lively hub of traditional kafeneia (cafés), where locals play backgammon under the shade of century-old plane trees.
