3Makrinitsa, Pelion Peninsula (Thessaly)

Another Pelion gem, Makrinitsa is often called the “balcony of Mount Pelion” for its panoramic views over Volos and the sea.

The stone mansions are typically whitewashed, but what makes this village colorful are the intricate painted ceilings and murals inside old houses, the lush greenery that blankets the area, and the overflowing flower boxes hanging from every window and balcony.
