10Don’t Assume Everyone Speaks English


While many Greeks, especially in tourist areas, speak English well, it’s a mistake to assume that everyone does.

Learning a few basic Greek phrases, such as “Kalimera” (Good morning) and “Efharisto” (Thank you), goes a long way in showing respect and can make interactions smoother. Locals appreciate it when visitors make an effort to speak their language, even if just a little.
