5Cash Is King

While credit cards are accepted in many places, especially in tourist-heavy areas, it’s a good idea to carry cash when traveling around Greece.

Many small shops, especially on the islands, may only accept cash. You’ll also find that many traditional tavernas and markets prefer cash payments. ATMs are widely available in cities, but it’s always wise to have cash on hand, particularly in more remote locations where card payment options might be limited.
