8Koufonisia – The Cycladic Secret


Tucked between Naxos and Amorgos in the Cyclades, Koufonisia is actually a pair of tiny islands—Ano Koufonisi and Kato Koufonisi. Ano Koufonisi is the only inhabited one, with around 400 residents and a charm that’s impossible to resist.

With no airport, no large resorts, and few cars, life here revolves around the rhythm of the sea. You can walk everywhere: to the golden-sand beaches like Pori and Fanos, to the quaint harbor tavernas, or to sea caves for a swim. It’s one of the most peaceful destinations in Greece and perfect for couples or solo travelers in search of silence and sun.
