Located on the southern tip of the island, the Akrotiri Lighthouse offers one of the most panoramic sunsets in Santorini.
Built in 1892, it’s still operational today and stands proudly at the edge of a rugged cliff. Watching the sun sink directly into the horizon here is a completely different experience than in Oia, where the caldera plays a central role. The lighthouse draws visitors, but far fewer than the northern towns, and the wide rocky terrain means you can always find your own private spot. For the most atmospheric experience, bring a picnic and settle in well before the light show begins.
