6Megalochori Caldera Viewpoints

Megalochori is a charming, quiet village surrounded by vineyards and narrow cobblestone streets. A short hike from the village leads you to caldera cliffs with some of the most unspoiled sunset views on the island.

Unlike Fira or Oia, where the caldera edges are filled with hotels and terraces, here the scenery feels raw and natural. It’s also one of the best places for photographers who want uninterrupted shots of the sun illuminating the volcanic landscape. If you’re staying in the village, you’ll also enjoy the benefit of stumbling upon hidden wine cellars and traditional tavernas after the sun goes down.
