4Dodona, Epirus – The Oracle of Zeus

While Delphi is more famous, Dodona in Epirus was one of the oldest and most important oracles in Greece.

Dedicated to Zeus and his consort Dione, the oracle was said to communicate through the rustling of sacred oak leaves. Priests interpreted these whispers as messages from the king of the gods. Today, visitors can explore the ancient theater, sanctuary, and the remnants of the oracle site, surrounded by oak trees that continue to echo the ancient mythic connection.
