9The Trojan War May Have Been Real

The legendary Trojan War, described in Homer’s epic poem, the Iliad, was long considered a myth. However, archaeological discoveries suggest that a war may have actually taken place around the 12th or 13th century BCE in what is now modern-day Turkey.

The ancient city of Troy, rediscovered by Heinrich Schliemann in the 19th century, shows evidence of destruction, lending credibility to the idea that the war might have had a historical basis.
