2Ioannina Castle (Epirus)

Ioannina Castle, located in the heart of the city of Ioannina, is one of the oldest Byzantine fortresses in Greece. Dating back to the 6th century, the castle has been influenced by Byzantine, Ottoman, and Greek architectural styles.

The inner citadel, known as Its Kale, houses the stunning Fethiye Mosque and the tomb of the infamous Ali Pasha. The castle’s location by the serene Lake Pamvotis adds to its enchanting atmosphere.
