Dating to the 8th century BCE, Nestor’s Cup was found on the island of Ischia, an ancient Greek colony in Italy.

Inscribed with one of the oldest known examples of Greek writing, the cup references Homer’s Iliad and suggests an early connection between Greek oral tradition and written literature. This artifact provides valuable insight into the early evolution of the Greek alphabet and literary culture.
