Also known as the Elgin Marbles, these sculptures were originally part of the Parthenon, the grand temple dedicated to Athena in Athens.
Created by the renowned sculptor Phidias in the 5th century BCE, they depict mythological and historical scenes. While some pieces remain in Greece, a significant portion is housed in the British Museum, fueling ongoing debates about cultural restitution.
