4The Artemision Bronze

Recovered from a shipwreck off Cape Artemision, this large bronze statue from the early 5th century BCE portrays either Zeus or Poseidon. 

The dynamic posture, detailed anatomy, and commanding presence make it one of the finest surviving examples of classical Greek sculpture. Scholars debate whether the figure originally held a thunderbolt or a trident.
