2Kos – Hippocrates and Classical Ruins

Kos, the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, is an island steeped in history.

The Asclepeion, an ancient healing center dedicated to Asclepius, remains one of the most significant archaeological sites in Greece. The island is also home to the ruins of a Roman Odeon, the medieval Neratzia Castle built by the Knights of St. John, and the Hippocrates Plane Tree, where the physician is said to have taught his students.
