7Underestimating the Heat

Athens can get extremely hot, especially during the summer months.  

Tourists often underestimate how draining it can be to walk around under the strong Mediterranean sun, particularly when visiting outdoor archaeological sites with little shade.

Tip: Visit major sites early in the morning or late afternoon. Carry water, wear a hat, and apply sunscreen liberally.
