Unlike most beaches, Sarakiniko is not sandy but made of white volcanic rock formations that resemble a lunar landscape.

While it looks spectacular, it poses risks. Swimmers often jump from cliffs into the sea, not realizing how strong the currents can be. The smooth volcanic rocks are slippery, leading to frequent injuries from falls. With no natural shade and limited facilities, heatstroke and dehydration are also concerns here.
