2U Bein Bridge, Myanmar

The U Bein Bridge near Mandalay is the world’s longest teakwood bridge, stretching 1.2 kilometers (0.75 miles) across Taungthaman Lake.

Built in the 19th century, it has no railings and its wooden planks can feel unstable underfoot. While not high above the water, the bridge is often crowded with hundreds of pedestrians, monks, and tourists at once, increasing the risk of accidents. Its age and sheer volume of traffic make it dangerous despite its serene beauty.
