1Temple of Artemis – Ephesus

Although located in present-day Turkey, Ephesus was once part of the Greek world, and its Temple of Artemis was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Built in the 6th century BC, it was enormous — larger even than the Parthenon — and richly adorned with sculptures. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times, and today only a single column remains. Yet the site still evokes awe, a reminder of a time when worship, art, and legend were intertwined in marble.
