3Temple of Aphaia – Aegina

Situated on the island of Aegina, the Temple of Aphaia is a perfect example of harmony between architecture and nature. Built around 500 BC, it stands on a pine-covered hill with sweeping views of the Saronic Gulf.

Dedicated to the local goddess Aphaia, it completes a mythical triangle with the Parthenon and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. Its pediment sculptures — depicting scenes of the Trojan War — show a transition from the archaic to the classical style. This temple is a must-visit for anyone wanting to see ancient Greece in a serene island setting.
