When Apollo 8 orbited the Moon, astronaut William Anders captured a view that changed humanity’s perspective forever:

Earth rising above the lunar horizon. Known as Earthrise, this image reminded us of the fragility of our planet. It fueled the environmental movement of the 1970s and remains one of the most important photographs in both science and culture.
