8Visit Achilleion Palace
Located just south of Corfu Town, Achilleion Palace is one of the island’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the late 19th century for Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi), the palace is dedicated to Achilles, the legendary Greek hero.
Marble statues, neoclassical architecture, and beautifully landscaped gardens create a romantic and slightly melancholic atmosphere. The views from the palace terraces stretch across the sea toward mainland Greece.
