3Aphrodite of Knidos

Sculpted by Praxiteles, the Aphrodite of Knidos was one of the first full-scale representations of the nude female form in Greek art.  

The statue’s soft, naturalistic rendering of the body and subtle expression set a new standard for beauty in Greek sculpture. Though the original is lost, Roman copies provide insight into its revolutionary design.
