3Symi
Symi is one of the most visually striking islands in the Dodecanese, yet it remains relatively quiet outside of the high season. Its colorful neoclassical houses tumble down steep hillsides towards the harbor, creating a postcard-perfect scene. Symi Town, also called Gialos, is the island’s heart, with narrow streets, boutique shops, and waterfront tavernas.
The island is small, making it easy to explore by foot or scooter. Symi offers calm beaches, scenic hiking trails, and a slow pace of life. Visitors often take day trips from Rhodes, but staying on Symi allows for a more relaxed experience and the chance to enjoy the island’s charm without the crowds.
