1The Sanctuary of Apollo at Delion
On the northern coast of the island, near the village of Krios, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Delios.
This sacred site was dedicated to the god Apollo and dates back to the 6th century BC. The sanctuary was part of a religious network connected to the island of Delos, one of the most important spiritual centers in ancient Greece.
Although only foundations and scattered marble blocks remain today, the site still conveys a strong sense of history. Visitors can walk among the ruins while overlooking the sea, imagining how pilgrims once gathered here to honor Apollo through ceremonies and offerings.
The location itself is stunning, combining ancient history with sweeping coastal views. It is one of the quieter historic sites on the island, allowing visitors to explore at a peaceful pace.
