3Amorgos – Drama, Depth, and Deep Blue

Amorgos, the easternmost island of the Cyclades, remains surprisingly under-visited despite its dramatic landscapes and starring role in Luc Besson’s cult classic The Big Blue. It’s a land of steep cliffs, ancient paths, and a spiritual, almost meditative atmosphere.

The most iconic site is the 11th-century Hozoviotissa Monastery, clinging to the cliffside high above the sea. Amorgos is also a hiker’s paradise, with trails connecting traditional villages and secluded coves. Its beaches, like Agia Anna and Mouros, offer crystal waters without the chaos of summer crowds.
