4Scala dei Turchi, Sicily (Italy)
A natural staircase sculpted into the cliffs of Sicily, Scala dei Turchi is a gleaming white rock formation that seems more like modern art than nature.
Centuries of wind and wave erosion created smooth, flowing curves — like frozen whipped cream or layered meringue — leading down into sapphire water. When the sun sets, the entire cliff glows gold and then pink, creating an illusion that feels too perfectly lit to be real.
It’s easily one of the most surreal landscapes in Italy.
