Summers in Greece are hot and dry. July and August are considered to be the hottest months there. The average temperature in summer is around 32 degrees Celsius.
During summer, the strong wind called “meltemi” blows and makes the heat a bit more bearable. The winters in Greece are mostly mild and rainy. Temperatures rarely drop below 0 degrees. December and January are rainy months.
During winter, snow is very rare, especially in the islands. Snow can be found in the Peloponnese. Greece is a Mediterranean country and its summer season starts in June and lasts till late September.
Expect the highest prices in July and August. This is the busiest period of the summer season. Athens as well all the islands are full of tourists. Most popular islands like Crete, Rhodes, Mykonos, and Santorini are also visited by a high number of tourists thanks to cruise ships that come every few days.
Greece is also popular during spring breaks and Easter in late April and early May. The weather is not as hot and the streets are not crowded yet.

The best time to travel to Greece is from late April till early November. From May till October, Greece has lots of sunny days.
July and August are the hottest months. From late September until October the weather is still warm enough and there are fewer crowds.
