8Pyrgos Village

Perched inland on one of the island’s highest points, Pyrgos is often overlooked by tourists rushing to Oia or Fira.

This traditional village offers 360-degree views, meaning you don’t just see the sunset but also the entire caldera stretching beneath you. The ruins of the Venetian Kasteli castle at the top provide a dramatic vantage point, while cozy tavernas and wine bars let you sip a glass of Assyrtiko as the sky turns shades of orange and purple. Compared to Oia, Pyrgos feels calm, authentic, and refreshingly uncrowded.
