1Day 4: History, Volcano & Farewell
On your final day, explore Santorini’s fascinating past. Begin with a visit to Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan city preserved in volcanic ash after a massive eruption thousands of years ago. Often compared to Pompeii, Akrotiri offers incredible insight into early Aegean civilization.
Afterward, consider a boat excursion to the volcanic islands in the caldera. Many tours depart from Athinios Port and include stops at Nea Kameni (the volcano), Palea Kameni (hot springs), and Thirassia, a quieter neighboring island.
Walking on the volcanic crater of Nea Kameni is a unique experience—you’ll see steaming vents and rugged landscapes shaped by past eruptions.
Return to Santorini in the late afternoon for your final evening. Spend it revisiting your favorite spot, enjoying one last sunset, or simply relaxing with a glass of local wine as you reflect on your trip.
