9Loutro, Crete
Loutro is one of those rare places in Greece that feels almost unreal in its simplicity. Located on the southern coast of Crete, it is accessible only by boat or on foot, which has helped preserve its peaceful character.
Whitewashed houses line a small crescent-shaped bay where water shifts between deep blue and emerald green. There are no cars, no traffic noise—just boats gently rocking in the harbor. Visitors spend their days swimming in crystal-clear waters, hiking coastal trails, or enjoying fresh seafood right by the sea.
Loutro is not a place for fast travel. It is a place to slow down completely.
