Discovered by Heinrich Schliemann in Mycenae in 1876, the Mask of Agamemnon is a gold funerary mask dating back to the 16th century BCE.
Though originally believed to belong to the legendary King Agamemnon, modern scholars doubt this attribution. Nevertheless, this finely crafted artifact remains one of the most iconic symbols of Mycenaean civilization and early Greek artistry.
