Walking the city walls is essential because the elevated route provides spectacular views over the historic center and sea. The Old Town itself is filled with stone streets, historic churches, elegant buildings and atmospheric squares.
Although Dubrovnik has become extremely popular, visiting outside the busiest periods can reveal a calmer side of the city. Nearby islands and coastal excursions also make it an excellent base for experiencing the southern Adriatic.
