6Puglia, Italy

Puglia is one of Italy’s best destinations for embracing the art of doing very little. The region’s whitewashed towns, olive groves, beautiful coastline and excellent food provide plenty of reasons to stay longer than planned.

Places such as Ostuni, Monopoli and Polignano a Mare offer very different experiences, but all encourage visitors to wander rather than rush between attractions.

A typical day might involve coffee in a historic square, a swim in the Adriatic, lunch featuring fresh seafood or handmade pasta and an evening aperitivo. Puglia reminds travelers that sometimes the best itinerary is no itinerary at all.
