The town’s elevated location provides extraordinary panoramic views across the volcanic basin. Walking through Fira means following paths lined with white buildings, terraces, and viewpoints that seem to hover above the water.
Fira is also one of the best bases for exploring the island because of its central location. From here, buses connect to beaches, villages, and archaeological sites. In the evening, the town becomes especially vibrant as restaurants fill with people lingering over dinner while the caldera glows in the fading light.
