7Italy Takes the Food Crown
This is an extremely difficult category because Greek food is fantastic, but Italy’s regional culinary diversity is almost impossible to compete with.
A trip through Italy can take you from Neapolitan pizza to Roman pasta, Tuscan dishes, fresh seafood in Sicily, risotto in northern Italy and handmade pasta in Emilia-Romagna.
And food isn’t simply something you eat between attractions. It is deeply woven into Italian travel culture.
Greece has its own strengths: grilled seafood, Greek salads, souvlaki, moussaka, fresh vegetables, excellent olive oil, local cheeses and regional specialties that change considerably between islands and mainland regions.
For sheer variety, however, Italy has the advantage.
