3Day 2: Oia & the Famous Sunset

No visit to Santorini is complete without exploring Oia, the island’s most photographed village.

Start early to avoid the crowds. Wander through its maze of narrow alleys, admire the famous blue-domed churches, and discover hidden viewpoints. Don’t miss the iconic castle ruins, known as Oia Castle, which offers one of the best panoramic views on the island.

Take your time browsing boutique shops, art galleries, and local artisan stores. Oia is also a great place to enjoy a leisurely brunch with a view.

In the afternoon, you can relax at your hotel or explore nearby Ammoudi Bay, located below Oia. This small fishing harbor is perfect for a seaside lunch or even a refreshing swim.

Return to Oia in the evening for its world-famous sunset. Arrive early to secure a good spot, as visitors gather from all over the island. While it’s undeniably crowded, the experience of watching the sun disappear into the Aegean from Oia is truly unforgettable.
