4Day 2: Discover Oia and the Northern Coast
Dedicate your second day to Oia, the island’s most famous village. Arrive early to explore before the crowds fill the narrow streets. Oia is known for its elegant cave houses, luxury hotels, charming windmills, and iconic blue-domed churches.
Take your time walking through the village’s winding alleys. Every corner reveals another stunning view of the caldera. Art lovers can browse local galleries featuring works inspired by Santorini’s landscapes and unique light.
After lunch, visit the ruins of Oia Castle. Although only fragments remain, the site offers one of the most famous viewpoints on the island.
In the afternoon, explore nearby Ammoudi Bay. Located below Oia, this picturesque fishing harbor is accessible by a staircase descending from the village. The waterfront tavernas are excellent places to enjoy fresh seafood while watching fishing boats gently sway in the harbor.
Stay in Oia for sunset if it is your first visit. Watching the sun sink below the horizon from this famous village is an experience many travelers remember for years.
