4Perissa Beach
On the southeastern side of the island, Perissa offers another face of Santorini. Instead of cliffs and caldera views, you find a long stretch of volcanic black sand and a more relaxed seaside atmosphere.
The beach is backed by the imposing mass of Mesa Vouno, which gives the setting dramatic scale. The shoreline is lined with tavernas, beach bars, and cafes, making it easy to spend an entire day here.
Perissa is especially popular with travelers who want swimming, sunbathing, and a slower pace after exploring villages and archaeological sites. It is one of the best places on the island to enjoy Santorini’s coastal character.
