Built on the slopes of Mount Profitis Ilias, Pyrgos is a maze of whitewashed houses, winding lanes, blue-domed churches and old stone buildings. At its highest point sits a Venetian-era castle settlement, where narrow passageways lead between traditional homes.
The village also offers wonderful views across Santorini, particularly toward the caldera and surrounding countryside.
