3Dinan, France
In Brittany, Dinan offers one of the most charming medieval experiences in France.
The town’s historic center is filled with half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and small squares, while ancient walls surround much of the old town. Walking along the ramparts provides views over the rooftops and the surrounding countryside.
The steep Rue du Jerzual connects the upper town with the river and is one of Dinan’s most atmospheric streets. Its combination of medieval architecture and Breton character makes Dinan an excellent alternative to France’s more famous historic destinations.
