3Day 2: Peloponnese – Myths, Monuments, and Coastal Beauty
On your second day, leave the city behind and head into the legendary Peloponnese. Renting a car is the best way to explore this region, as it allows flexibility and access to hidden gems.
Your first stop is the Corinth Canal, an engineering marvel that cuts dramatically through rock, linking two seas. It’s a quick stop, but the view is striking.
Continue to Ancient Corinth, once a powerful city-state. Walk among ruins that include temples, marketplaces, and the remains of a once-thriving civilization. Nearby, the imposing Acrocorinth offers sweeping views and a glimpse into Greece’s layered history.
From there, drive to Nafplio, often considered one of the most beautiful towns in the country. Its Venetian architecture, pastel buildings, and seaside charm create a romantic atmosphere. Climb the steps (or take a taxi) up to the Palamidi Fortress for breathtaking views over the Argolic Gulf.
If time allows, take a short detour to Epidaurus Theatre, famous for its near-perfect acoustics. Even a whisper on stage can be heard from the top rows—a testament to ancient Greek ingenuity.
Return to Athens in the evening or stay overnight in Nafplio for a slower, more relaxed pace.
